Do you conduct business operations in the construction industry in Germany?

Do you conduct business operations in the construction industry in Germany while hiring your employees? In such a case, your company, as an employer, is obliged to register at the so-called SOKA BAU in Germany and submit regular notifications of your employees to SOKA BAU, namely of the number of work hours and granted leave.

The purpose of registration at SOKA BAU is to ensure equal possibilities regarding granting of leave to employees even in the case when the employees are not eligible for leave due to frequent changes of employment. Therefore, SOKA BAU stores the so-called register of employee leave pertinent to all the previous employment contracts of the given employees.

If you carry out work like electrical installations, water and plumbing installations, or work that is not related to construction, your company is exempt from the duty to pay contributions to SOKA BAU.

Like in the case of Zollamt, you should register at SOKA BAU only in the case your employees are working in Germany, conducting works liable for the registration at SOKA BAU.

This exemption is applicable if you carry out work like electrical installations, water and plumbing installations, or work that is not related to construction.
